From 03.-04. May 2018, the Final Conference of the BMBF-funded project nanoGRAVUR will take place in the premises of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA). Following the international final conference, on the second day the applicability and implementation of the "nanoGRAVUR" concepts will be presented in a workshop and discussed together with the stakeholders.
One prerequisite to facilitate the development of new and innovative applications based on nanotechnology is to ensure their safety along the entire life chain. Considering the continuous increasing development and use of nanomaterials, testing and risk assessment of each single material or nanoform is not feasible. Grouping, read across and categorisation are approaches that support the risk assessment and that significantly reduce time and amount of (toxicological) testing. nanoGRAVUR has developed new and advanced methods supporting nanomaterial grouping in the context of worker, consumer and environmental safety. This workshop will present the most important results in the context of recent international achievements and will allow a discussion on future needs. Experts from Academia, Regulatory bodies and agencies, Industry and Government are invited to join the discussion.

In October we would like to present the special issue "Future Nanosafety" published in "Chemical Research in Toxicology".
In 17 articles operation procedures for future test methods, alternatives for animal testing, safe-by-design processes and detection methods of nanoparticles are presented.
