Scientix Newsletter May 2014


In its latest issue from May 2014 the Scientix Newsletter focuses on teaching and learning nanotechnology, and how to introduce this topic to primary and secondary schools.


Since the mid-2000s, especially after the European Commission Action Plan for nanosciences and nanotechnologies (2005-2009), there have been numerous projects focussing on different aspects of nanotechnology for pupils. The newsletter gives an overview of these projects and their achievements: resources like learning materials, hands-on experiments, , teacher trainings, research analysis, public engagement as well as materials planned for the future.


The newsletter includes the following topics:

  • Teaching nanotechnology: interview with Dr Luisa Filipponi from the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Centre (iNANO) at Aarhus University in Denmark
  • Nanotechnology in curricula
  • Projects in nanotechnology education
