Diamond – Exposure

Epidemiological data on diamond nanoparticles are not available.

Currently there are no studies regarding the environmental exposure with diamond nanoparticles available.

Diamond nanoparticles are chemically inert and considered as biocompatible, i.e. there is no release of potentially toxic ions, no modification in the body and the particles are well tolerated [1].

The in vivo studies for nano-diamond testing were carried out against a background of using the particles as carriers for drugs, e.g. in chemotherapy [1]. In addition to the drug-loaded particles, nano-diamond particles were tested alone as a control.
